Mile-High Maiden™

Happy New Year!

We ask you to journey back to September 2004, when we introduced our Mile-High Maidens with the following:

“If you’ve visited our magazine before, you know that the 1958 movie The Hunters, starring Robert Mitchum and Robert Wagner, is one of our all-time favorite aviation-themed movies, a Korean War tale of courage, camaraderie and star-crossed love, played out by a group of American fighter pilots as they twist and turn in the skies over the Yalu River, jousting with Mig-15s.

In honor of the movie--with tongue only slightly in cheek--we offer two squadron-mate applicants, one to fly wing on Maj. Cleve Saville (Mitchum) and the other to watch the tail of Lt. Ed Pell (Wagner).

As our new Huntresses contemplate suiting up for their first mission, you can almost hear the whine from those General Electric J47-GE-13 engines. So without further delay, saddle up one of those beautiful North American F-86 Sabre jets and prepare for battle.

We bring you our September Cover Girls...

Well...that was then... this is now. We admit that it’s been a particularly long mission, one requiring several in-flight refuelings, many battles and much hardship. Nevertheless, our fledgling fighter pilots not only managed to survive but to return victorious. We’re sure there’ll be a medal or two in it for them both. Please help us welcome them back....
