Whether you support the war in Iraq or not, if you listen to the mainstream press, one thing is clear: recruiting for all the armed forces has become more difficult.
Or has it? Given the escapades of Dan Rather, among others in the left-leaning media, might not the whole story exhibit a slightly different hue?
We thought it might be worth further investigation and perhaps an article. So we sent Contributing Editor Joe Klunkerman to survey local recruiters to get a clearer picture.
He started with the local Navy recruiter. What he uncovered was both surprising and eye-opening—the naked truth, so to speak. At this particular recruiting station, at least, there doesn’t seem to be a problem with numbers, but the appalling lack of uniform discipline, as evidenced by the unusual nautical attire…well, we were left breathless.
